MARJORIE TOMCHUK
As an artist for thirty years, Marjorie Tomchuk has won awards and gained international recognition with her art. In the past twenty years the artist's work has evolved into a dramatically free style combining innovation, imagination and superb technical skill. All this individual creativity is expressed in her unique pieces and multiples rendered on distinctive artist-made papers. Born in Canada and educated in the United States, Japan and Europe, Ms. Tomchuk has traveled the world extensively gathering impressions for use in her art.
She is recognized in the following biographical books: Artist's U.S.A.; Prints, A Guide to Collecting; American Printmakers; Print World Directory; Art Diary; New York Art Review; American Artists, An Illustrated Survey of Leading Contemporaries; Modern Style; Collector's Art, Limited Edition Print Guide; as well as the various "Who's Who" editions of American Art; International Art and Antiques; American Women; and the World's Who's Who of Women.
Studies at the University of Michigan (MA); Pratt Graphics Center, New York City; Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan; as well as studies in Germany were followed by years of development at her studios first in New York City and then in New Canaan, Connecticut. A book titled M. Tomchuk Graphic Work published in
1989 illustrates 257 original prints created since 1962. A thirty minute video produced for Connecticutt Public TV was produced in 2000.
