The Journey

| | "The Journey" is about the reaccuring theme in my work of "four sisters" of which I am one. It is rather like the journey of life as we all relate to one another, in this case, it is sibling to sibling.
This 28'x 108" is a collograph master plate from which images may be printed. No longer used as a printing surface I have chosen to frame it. It is made by overlaying heavy pieces of thick paper or whatever else I can find that will lie flat is glued in place. I add a coat of modeling paste to create the heavy texture you see and let dry.
The plate is now ready to receive color which is adhered with rollers and then rubbed back down so that only a hint of the color is left. This process is repeated many times to achieve the beautiful patina that these pieces have.
Because of this concept of using these plates as I have, they command attention not only because of their size but their incredible subtle color.
This and plates like this create a conversation piece for any room or office. | |
